Barclays Capital wins 'Bank of the Year'

16 Dec 2011

IFR, one of the investment banking industry's leading publications, has named Barclays Capital 'Bank of the Year'.

"The European sovereign debt crisis provided a sombre backdrop to developments in global investment banking, particularly in the second half of 2011," wrote IFR's editors. "But partially using the cover of the crisis, one firm accelerated and consolidated its truly impressive build-out. For increasing market share across the board, executing more than its fair share of the year’s stand-out business, staying profitable throughout, and transforming itself into an increasingly go-to investment bank, Barclays Capital is IFR’s 2011 Bank of the Year."

This accolade comes after Euromoney magazine named Barclays Capital as the Best Global Investment Bank earlier this year.[http://www.barcap.com/About+Barclays+Capital/Recent+Awards/Euromoney+Award].

Barclays Capital was also named 'Derivatives House', 'Loan House', Sterling Bond House' and 'Interest Rate Derivatives House' by IFR.
